Week 7 of BP

Week 7

November 20, 2012 Tuesday
Had lunch with Tanvi, Cindy and Jason in Chahaya Malaysia.  https://plus.google.com/109068133054953483645/about?gl=US&hl=en The food was good, but a bit pricy.  Well, I guess everything costs more in Ottawa :-)  Then, we went to study in Starbucks, Geordan was there getting coffee.  So she joined us, not to study, but to chat and chat and chat.

November 21, 2012 Wednesday
Demo Class#13: Chef Jocelyne made Miroir au cassis, and Miroir citrons today.  They tasted pretty good, I liked them.  It was too difficult to make them, it's just that there would be enough time to freeze them because they were mousse cakes.

November 22, 2012 Thursday
Practical Class#13: My Miroir au cassis turned out great.  Chef Jocelyn liked it, but it needed more colour and the leaves needed to be more 3D.

Demo Class#14: In demo class, Chef Jocelyne made Coulis assortis, Gratin de fruits, Tarte soufflée, Soufflé chaud Rothschild.  Of course, for soufflée, it's all about timing.  From the time you take it out from the oven to place it on the serving table is only few minutes long.  It will deflate real quick.  But then again, I can finish eating it in few minutes only.

After class, Cindy, Tanvi and I went to get Shawarma.
Today, Regula wrote to me on FB about Swiss fondue: Emmentaler, Gryere and Appenzeller cheeses, with white wine, garlic and Kirsch, just rub the pan with garlic before adding ingredients, and add Kirsch at the end for flavour.  Sounds good to me! I need to try that one day!

Practical Class #14: In practical class, we made Gratin de fruits, and Tarte soufflée.  Chef Jocelyn liked the products I made, good organization, fast, focus.... just that the tart could be out of the oven 3 minutes earlier.  These were his comments.  After he graded it, I ate the whole dish of Gratin de fruits, it was yummy.

After class, Cindy and I went to Domus Housewares http://www.domushousewares.com and got a gift card for Dina's b-day, then ate Taiwanese noodle in ByWard Market.

November 24, 2012 Saturday
This morning, whole brunch of us, including Dina, Jason, Cindy, Cynthia and I, went to have breakfast in Art Is In Boulangerie. http://www.artisinbakery.com When we arrived, I saw Nicole and Deb were there sitting in the big table.  I had a feeling before getting there that I might bump into them because they took me that they visited there very often, and my feeling was right! We sat with them, and I was so glad to chat with them and had a catch up.  They left first, then the rest of us enjoyed the breakfast (maple bacon and egg on a croissant!) and we even got more pastries to try.  We love the place!

It was a very very cold day.  We went to walk around in Rideau Centre.  I got a winter hat, the ladies were looking for winter boots.  We were trying to get ready for the winter here in Ottawa! Later that night, we celebrated Dina's birthday in C'est Japon à Suisha http://www.japaninottawa.com Who attended? Dina, Anna, Cindy, Cynthia, Jason, Tanvi and I were invited.  Great food, great companies.  Thanks Dina!
